Spring Has Sprung

It is definitely Spring in France! As much as the winter was cold and grey and dark (with a bit of rain and snow sprinkled here and there), Spring is bright and green and warm. It has been down-right lovely here the last several weeks. I guess what's a bit ironic is that as much as winter was "the driest in the last 60 years", March has been "unseasonably warm". Well as much as I truly am concerned about global warming, I have been welcoming the warmer weather and sunnier days with open arms.

One especially welcome sound has been the return of the birds. Our mornings are full of bird-songs. This definitely makes me nostalgic for home where for much of the year we are delighted with the songs of birds waking us up each morning in the forest. I feel like I totally understand now the true allure of living somewhere with very distinct seasons. As much as winter was harder than what I'm used to in California it was also distinct and interesting and beautiful. The eery quiet and magnificent brightness of the snow as well as the beautiful and amazing icicles that formed at the lake. And yet you fully experience and appreciate the return of the sun as winter slowly transitions into spring. A day doesn't go by that you don't get outside, sit in the sun, and truly soak up the beauty of the flowers blooming and the leaves sprouting. I'm not sure I've ever experienced Spring like this before.

The girls are taking advantage of the warmer, sunnier days too. As soon as they get home from school they're outside until we make them come back in.

I apologize for the glare in the window but I wanted to keep the shot candid.
I love this. A girl, her chicken, and her Barbies. :) What's not to love!

Yes, even Sadie is soaking up the sun.

Who doesn't love climbing on top of life-size animal statues at the park!

I hope wherever you are, reading this right now, that you too are getting to enjoy the return of the sun and the beauty of Spring.
